It took 3 weeks for Colton’s pathology
to come back and on February 16th, he was diagnosed with Gliomatosis
Cerebri, a rare and terminal brain tumor. He was only in the 1st
grade at the time. Their community in Fayetteville, AL has rallied around him
and their family. There have been many fundraisers and so much awareness of
childhood cancer. His story has inspired their small town and he is touching
lives. It seems everyone wants to flood him with a lifetime of memories. Colton
has had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game, run a
touchdown at a school football game, meet Nick Saban and the Alabama team, go
to Disney with Make-a-Wish, and has even been to prom!
Colton’s story isn’t focused on what he
will miss out on, instead, it’s focused on what he can experience while he’s
here. He’s a brave boy with many people surrounding him with love. Currently,
Colton is off of treatment and at home, although he still makes frequent
hospital trips. The family is taking it all one day at a time.
